Karwar: The Karnataka State Gram Panchayat Employees Association’s Uttara Kannada district unit workers submitted a memorandum to Zilla Panchayat Assistant Secretary (Development) C L Gowda, on Monday, urging the administration to pay salary through e-FMS (electronic fund manager system) software to unapproved employees, working in gram panchayats.

The workers said that the general secretary of the Rural Development & Panchayat Raj (RDPR) department has informed them that the payment of gram panchayat employees will be transferred directly to their bank accounts from a centralized account through e-FMS software.

However, that facility was only given for approved workers but not for unapproved workers, they claimed.

Condemning the wage payment by e-FMS, which is only for approved staff which is against the minimum wage rule, they said that all employees of the Gram Panchayats are also eligible to receive a minimum wage.

Urging ZP officials for the approval of all Gram Panchayat staff who have been working since last 10 years, they quoted the move of rising the academic eligibility from SSLC to PUC to avail the promotions of clerk, bill collectors is unnecessary as it has hampered the promotion of four thousand workers, they added.

Association District Unit President Subhas Koppikar, Secretary T M Gurubannavar and CITU State Unit Secretary Yamuna Gaovnkar were present.
